MEET UpWord
Kids CREATOR: Joyce Jordan
Although Joyce earned a BA degree in Communications from
Louisiana Baptist University, she asserts that her greatest
education came from the various hands-on learning experiences
in churches of all sizes. Joyce has directed children's
ministries with average weekly attendances from 10 to 500
first through sixth graders.
Ventriloquism is a tool that Joyce has used to catch and
hold the attention of audiences across the United States
for the past 35 years. She and her company of 13 characters
are known as Joyce & Friends. Joyce traveled extensively
for 17 years before putting her full focus on the ministries
of the local church.
In addition to being
a published author, Joyce has made television appearances,
commercials, and public service announcements. Recently
she has shared the stage with many Southern gospel groups
and contemporary artists such as: The Martins, The Hoppers,
The Nelons, Daryl Williams Trio, The Issaacs, Dixie Melody
Boys, The Florida Boys, Legacy Five, Leon Patillo, Janet
Pascal, Lisa Daggs, Natalie Grant, Carman, Shane and Shane.

Joyce says she is grieved
at the loss of volunteer teachers and resources that do not teach
a biblical world view. She has spent the last six years creating
UpWord Kids, a DVD curriculum that is so user-friendly
anyone can use it with no preparation. UpWord Kids
uses a variety of drama, puppets, stories, interactive skits and
games, and when completed it will provide three years of weekly
programs.
Joyce's life verse is: Psalms 71:18b (NCV): "I will tell the children
about Your power; I will tell those who live after me about Your
might."
Joyce has over 35 years of experience in children's ministries.

conducting teacher training seminars. Additionally, he is
the host of "Kids
& Company," a popular children's radio show on KYCC in Stockton.

Meet Pat James:
Pat is a gifted writer for UpWord Kids and has had many
articles published in national magazines and periodicals.
She is also the author of: "I Love Monday Mornings". You
may purchase her book in our Store.
"I Love Monday Mornings" is a compilation of stories that
will make you laugh and make you cry. First grade teacher
Pat James not only loves Monday mornings in the classroom,
but also loves Sunday mornings in the church. This veteran
Sunday School teacher is one of the writers for the UpWord
Kids series. The book is a great "Thank You" gift for teachers.
